Paralleled Inspiration with the Florentine Opera:
The Creativity of the American Spirit
Inspired by the exhibition, Journey from the Secular to the Spiritual: Works by George Ray McCormick, Sr., at the Charles Allis Art Museum, 1801 N. Prospect Ave., the Florentine Opera Company will perform works by American composers past and present. Join us Sunday, June 15 at 3 p.m. for an afternoon of artistic interpretation – including performances by bass-baritone, William Johnson and mezzo-soprano, Kristin Piefer. William Florescu, Florentine Opera Company General Director, will narrate this musical journey.
The performances by the Florentine Opera Company will draw upon the spiritual overtones embedded within McCormick’s carvings, sculptures and paintings. The program will feature Piano Four Hands and Spirituals sung a cappella by bass-baritone William Johnson; as well as American Art Songs, Opera and Broadway.
Paralleled Inspiration is a special collaboration between the Charles Allis Art Museum and the Florentine Opera Company. The event is free with general museum admission: $5 for Adults; $3 for Seniors (62+), Veterans and Students with a valid ID; and FREE for Museum Members, Active Military and Children 12 and under.
